The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will host public meetings to gather input on the practice of deer hunting with dogs, according to SCDNR.
The agency said it has received feedback from hunters, landowners and other members of the public expressing a range of perspectives, including concerns, conflicts and complaints related to the practice, according to SCDNR.
Deer hunting with dogs is a long-established and culturally significant hunting tradition practiced primarily in South Carolina’s Coastal Plain, in Game Zones 3 and 4 only, according to SCDNR.
