Based on a release from U.S. Rep. William Timmons (SC-04).

U.S. Rep. William Timmons, R-S.C., and U.S. Rep. Sam Liccardo, D-Calif., introduced the bipartisan Ounce of Prevention Act to help states, cities and local governments strengthen communities before disasters strike, according to the Office of Rep. Timmons.

The bill would allow local governments to use Community Development Block Grant funds for pre-disaster risk mitigation, eliminating restrictions that currently tie the funding solely to post-disaster recovery, according to the office.
