The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged two North Carolina men with criminal conspiracy, animal cruelty and animal fighting after 40 dogs were rescued.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged two North Carolina men last week in connection with the rescue of 40 dogs, according to SLED.
Dennis Ray Williams, 69, and Samuel Garen Mobley, 49, were each charged Thursday with two counts of criminal conspiracy, ill treatment of animals, and animal fighting or baiting, according to SLED.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office assisted SLED in the investigation, according to SLED.
Williams and Mobley were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center, according to SLED.
The case will be prosecuted by the 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, according to SLED.
