The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Cornelius Travis Jones with presenting false insurance claims in both Florence and Darlington counties.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Cornelius Travis Jones, 46, of Florence County, with three counts of presenting a false claim for insurance payment, according to SLED.
SLED charged Jones on Thursday, July 16, 2026, with one count of presenting a false claim for insurance payment valued at more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, according to SLED. He was booked into the Florence County Detention Center.
Later that day, SLED charged Jones with an additional count of presenting a false claim for insurance payment valued at more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, along with one count of presenting a false claim for insurance payment valued at $2,000 or less, according to SLED. He was booked into the Darlington County Detention Center on those charges.
The South Carolina Department of Insurance requested the SLED investigation, according to SLED. The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Department of Insurance, according to SLED.
