State Library Lists May Electronic State Publications, Including Gym Membership Guide

The S.C. State Library has released its monthly list of electronic state publications, featuring a Department of Consumer Affairs guide on gym membership contracts.

The S.C. State Library has published its complete list of May electronic South Carolina state publications, according to the State Library.

Among the publications is a document titled “The Facts on…Gym Memberships,” produced by the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs, according to the State Library.

The document explores general information about gym membership contracts, automatic renewals, canceling a contract, and what to do when a gym closes, according to the State Library.

The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs was established in 1974 to serve as the state’s consumer protection agency, according to the State Library. The agency helps formulate and modify consumer laws, policies and regulations; regulates the consumer credit marketplace; resolves complaints related to the production, promotion or sale of consumer goods or services in South Carolina; and promotes a competitive business climate between buyers and sellers, according to the State Library.

The full list of May publications is available through the South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository, which provides electronic access to state agency publications, according to the State Library. The depository offers citizens information about state government, including statistics, reports and data on a range of topics, according to the State Library.
