The South Carolina State Library is displaying a traveling exhibit on the 1781 siege and excavation of Fort Motte through Aug. 31.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina State Library is hosting a traveling exhibit titled “The History and Archaeology of Fort Motte,” according to the South Carolina State Library.
The exhibit, provided courtesy of the South Carolina State Museum, examines the 1781 siege of Fort Motte, the excavation of the site and artifacts uncovered there, according to the State Library.
Fort Motte, located in present-day Calhoun County, was a British outpost during the Revolutionary War, according to the State Library.
The exhibit was developed by the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum and features 13 panels, 12 reproduction objects for display and 14 reproduction objects for hands-on learning, according to the State Library.
The exhibit will remain on display until Aug. 31 at the South Carolina State Library, 1500 Senate St. in Columbia. The library is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to the State Library.
