GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Agents with the South Carolina Department of Revenue arrested a Georgetown County woman Wednesday and charged her with three counts of tax evasion, according to the SCDOR.

Kissha Nagai Taimee Reed, 53, of Georgetown, failed to file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns for tax years 2022 through 2024, according to arrest warrants cited by the SCDOR.

Reed also filed withholding documents with her employer that falsely indicated she was exempt from South Carolina Individual Income Tax, the warrants state.

According to the warrants, Reed had South Carolina taxable income totaling at least $253,178 over the three years, resulting in about $12,986 owed in state income tax.

If convicted, Reed faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, plus the cost of prosecution, for each count, according to the SCDOR.

She is being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing, the SCDOR said.

The SCDOR said anyone who suspects a state tax crime can submit a Tax Violation Complaint through MyDORWAY, the agency’s online tax portal, or by filing a paper form available on the department’s website.
