The S.C. Commission on Higher Education will host a series of virtual workshops in September and October covering state scholarship and grant programs.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The S.C. Commission on Higher Education will hold a series of virtual training workshops in September and October for financial aid staff, according to the commission.
The sessions are aimed at both new financial aid professionals and experienced staff who want a refresher on South Carolina’s state scholarship and grant programs, according to the commission. CHE staff with expertise in state financial aid administration will lead the training.
Topics will include program regulations, eligibility and renewal requirements, reporting and invoicing duties, and compliance issues, according to the commission. The workshops will also include discussion of real-world scenarios and frequently asked questions.
Because of demand, CHE will also host a virtual version of its Regional Scholarship Workshop for people who could not attend in-person sessions held around the state this summer, according to the commission. That session will cover the same material presented at the in-person regional workshops.
Each workshop will start at 10 a.m. and run no longer than one hour, according to the commission. The schedule is as follows: a Virtual Regional Scholarship Workshop on Sept. 17; HOPE/LIFE Scholarship on Sept. 24; Palmetto Fellows Scholarship on Oct. 1; Lottery Tuition Assistance on Oct. 8; SC Need-Based Grant on Oct. 15; Education Enhancement Q&A on Oct. 22; and CHE Invoicing and Auditing on Oct. 29.
Separately, the S.C. National Guard College Assistance Program will hold a Best Practices Workshop on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m., according to the commission. That session is not part of the New Financial Aid Staff Training Series, but financial aid professionals are encouraged to attend.
