The State Law Enforcement Division charged a 19-year-old Richland County man with weapons and breach of peace offenses tied to shootings at South Carolina State University last October.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Deon David Savage, 19, with possession of a firearm on school property, breach of peace of an aggravated nature, and pointing a firearm at a person on Wednesday, according to SLED.
The investigation was requested by the South Carolina State University Department of Public Safety, according to SLED.
Savage was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office, according to SLED.
SLED is investigating two shootings that occurred the evening of Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at South Carolina State. A woman was killed in one of the shootings, according to SLED. The investigations remain active and ongoing.
SLED said Darrell Lee Goss Jr. was previously charged on May 27 with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, carrying or displaying a firearm on school property, and breach of peace of an aggravated nature in connection with the shootings.
