The packaging manufacturer plans to add 10 jobs as it grows its Oconee County warehouse and production capacity.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — CurTec USA is expanding its operations in Oconee County with a $10 million investment expected to create 10 new jobs, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.
The company, which manufactures plastic drums, pails and jars for the life sciences and fine chemicals industries, will expand its existing warehouse and production lines at its facility at 365 Oconee Business Parkway in Westminster. The expansion will increase the plant’s capacity to manufacture and store drums and pails for pharmaceutical markets, according to Commerce.
Operations are expected to come online in the summer of 2027.
CurTec was founded in 1991 and has production operations in the United States and the Netherlands, along with a commercial presence in Asia, Europe and North America, according to Commerce. The Westminster facility opened in 2023.
CurTec CEO Bart van Berkel said in a statement that the original goal of the Westminster site was to bring production closer to North American customers and build a platform for long-term growth.
“This expansion is the next step. By increasing local production, capacity and inventory, we can strengthen supply reliability, broaden the range we manufacture in the United States and continue growing our team and operations in South Carolina,” van Berkel said.
Gov. Henry McMaster said the expansion strengthens the company’s commitment to South Carolina. Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III and Senate President Thomas C. Alexander also offered statements supporting the project, as did Oconee Economic Alliance President and CEO Jamie Gilbert, who called it a reflection of the company’s confidence in the area’s workforce and business climate.
Individuals interested in jobs with CurTec were directed to the company’s careers page, according to Commerce.
