Gov. Henry McMaster and Lt. Gov. Pamela S. Evette are set to attend a workforce summit, a veterans affairs summit and the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway this week, according to the Office of the Governor.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Gov. Henry McMaster, Lt. Gov. Pamela S. Evette and First Lady Peggy McMaster have a series of public events scheduled for the week of Aug. 31, according to the Office of the Governor.
On Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., Evette will attend the Workforce and Manufacturing Summit at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The event is hosted by the South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce and sponsored by the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, according to the office.
Later Tuesday, at 4 p.m., McMaster, the first lady and Evette will join the Department of Employment and Workforce for a Workforce Champion Award Ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion, according to the office.
On Thursday at 10 a.m., McMaster will take part in the annual Governor’s Veterans Affairs Summit at the Pastides Alumni Center in Columbia, according to the office.
On Sunday, Evette and McMaster are each scheduled to attend the NASCAR Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, with Evette arriving at 12:30 p.m. and McMaster at 4 p.m., according to the office.
The office also released McMaster’s schedule for the previous week, Aug. 24. That week included office hours at the Statehouse, a vote by McMaster and the first lady in the U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary Run-off election, a reception honoring former U.S. attorneys for the District of South Carolina, and a historical speaking series and reception, all at the Governor’s Mansion, according to the office. The prior week’s schedule also listed calls on Saturday with President Donald J. Trump and Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook, according to the office.
