Prysmian North America is expanding its existing Lexington facility, with operations expected online in May 2028, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Prysmian North America is expanding its operations in Lexington County with an $80 million investment expected to create approximately 135 new jobs, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.
The company will expand its existing facility at 700 Industrial Drive in Lexington to increase its manufacturing capabilities in the state, according to the department. Prysmian also operates a manufacturing plant in Abbeville County. Operations at the expanded Lexington site are expected to be online in May 2028, according to the department.
Prysmian has operated as a producer of optical fibers, optical and copper cables, and connectivity systems for over 140 years, according to the department. The company’s international headquarters is in Milan, and its North American headquarters is in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Prysmian operates in more than 50 countries, with over 50 locations and 9,000 associates in North America, according to the department.
“This investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth of the U.S. demand for advanced digital solutions. We are one of just three U.S. manufacturers of fiber and optical cables, and now we are committing more than a billion dollars to new innovative solutions and transformational capacity growth,” Prysmian North America CEO Andrea Pirondini said, according to the department.
“Prysmian has been a valued part of South Carolina’s manufacturing industry, and we are pleased to see the company continue to invest in our state. This expansion will bring approximately 135 new jobs to Lexington County and create new opportunities for South Carolinians,” Gov. Henry McMaster said, according to the department.
“Congratulations to Prysmian as it expands its manufacturing capabilities in Lexington County. We look forward to the company’s ongoing success as it continues to grow its footprint here in South Carolina,” Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III said, according to the department.
“For decades, Prysmian has been a valued corporate partner and an integral part of the Lexington County community. Their decision to invest an additional $80 million and create 135 new jobs is a strong vote of confidence in our workforce, our business climate and our shared future. Existing industries are the backbone of our local economy, and there is no greater testament to Lexington County’s success than when companies that have called our community home for generations continue to grow and reinvest,” Lexington County Council Chairman Darrell Hudson said, according to the department.
