Turner, a former AT&T in-house lawyer with three decades of experience, will lead the agency's legal division.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Commerce announced Patrick Turner has joined the agency as general counsel, according to S.C. Commerce.
Turner will oversee the agency’s legal division and advise on litigation, compliance and other legal matters, according to S.C. Commerce.
Turner spent 30 years as in-house counsel at AT&T and its predecessor companies, working on state and federal regulatory issues and public policy, according to the agency. He most recently founded PWT Law, LLC, offering legal, mediation and consulting services.
An Upstate native, Turner earned his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and studied law at the University of South Carolina’s Joseph F. Rice School of Law, according to S.C. Commerce.
“We are excited to welcome Patrick to the S.C. Commerce team,” said Secretary Harry M. Lightsey III. “Patrick’s firsthand experience with business law and public policy will support the agency’s continued mission to advance South Carolina’s position as a global economic leader.”
