U.S. Sen. Tim Scott held his 16th annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast in Washington in memory of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., hosted his 16th annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast, drawing hundreds of South Carolinians including elected officials, faith leaders and community members, according to the Office of Sen. Tim Scott.
This year’s breakfast was held in memory of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, according to the office. Scott honored Graham’s legacy as a colleague, friend and brother, saying his years of service to South Carolina and the nation would not be forgotten.
Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., and U.S. Representatives Sheri Biggs, R-S.C., Russell Fry, R-S.C., Ralph Norman, R-S.C., William Timmons, R-S.C., and Joe Wilson, R-S.C., also delivered remarks at the event, according to the office.
“One of the things I will tell you about Lindsey that I think is important to our Scripture today is Philippians 1:6, that he who began a good work is going to be faithful to finish it,” Scott said. “And I look around the room, and I know that everybody doesn’t believe as I believe. We have people from different faiths, different walks, people who don’t believe at all.”
“In this hyper polarized world that we’re living in, it is so easy for us to make the decision that because you don’t agree with me, you are my enemy. Lindsey never practiced that. Lindsey built a bridge from the Republican side of the aisle to the Democrat side of the aisle, because he believed that there were good people on both sides of the aisle,” Scott continued.
“Every single day, Lindsey was just who God created him to be. We are all complex, complicated layers of humanity, all in one person, typically in conflict with even ourselves. And if you can be comfortable just being you, it might be one of the ways that we honor the Lord, honor the person in the mirror, and for me, honor the life of Lindsey Graham,” Scott added.
