SLED Charges Cherokee County Couple With Insurance Fraud

Two Cherokee County residents face charges of presenting a false insurance claim following a state investigation.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Tristan Wayne Rodgers, 40, and Charity Andrica Covington, 40, with presenting a false claim for insurance payment valued at $2,000 or less, according to SLED.

The charges were filed Tuesday, July 7, 2026, according to SLED.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance requested the SLED investigation, according to SLED.

Both Rodgers and Covington were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center, according to SLED.

The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Department of Insurance, according to SLED.
