State Education Department Seeks Waiver to Extend 21st Century Learning Centers Funding Deadline

The S.C. Department of Education is requesting an extension of the spending deadline for fiscal year 2024 federal after-school program funds.

The South Carolina Department of Education is requesting an extension of the period of availability for fiscal year 2024 Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers program funding, according to the South Carolina Department of Education.

The department is seeking a waiver under Section 8401 of the Every Student Succeeds Act to extend the availability of the funds for the state and all local education agencies to Dec. 31, 2027, according to the department.
