The industrial packaging company will invest $5.31 million in a new Gaffney manufacturing facility set to begin operations in 2027.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — UFP Packaging is expanding its South Carolina footprint with a new operation in Cherokee County, according to the Office of the Governor. The company’s $5.31 million investment will create 136 new jobs.
UFP Packaging, an industrial packaging solutions and services provider, is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and designs and manufactures wood pallets and crates, corrugated boxes, structural steel packaging and horticulture racks, according to the governor’s office. The company is a subsidiary of UFP Industries and has more than 100 locations globally, including two existing facilities in Orangeburg County.
The new manufacturing plant will be located at 50 Peachview Blvd. in Gaffney and will produce wood packaging products, according to the governor’s office. The facility is intended to strengthen UFP Packaging’s ability to serve industrial customers across the Southeast and beyond. Operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project, according to the governor’s office.
“This investment gives our Structural Packaging business added capacity, expanded geographic reach and enhanced ability to deliver highly customized solutions that help customers solve difficult packaging and logistics challenges,” said UFP Industries President and CEO Will Schwartz. “South Carolina’s strong manufacturing base, skilled workforce and values-driven business environment make it the right fit for our company and our culture.”
