WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, issued a statement ahead of the one-year anniversary of the One Big Beautiful Bill being signed into law, according to the Office of Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Graham, chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, said the law delivered “the largest tax cut for working and middle-class families in American history.” He said making the 2017 tax cuts permanent stopped a $2,300 tax increase on the average South Carolina family and that the legislation passed without a Democratic vote, according to the office.

The senator said the law also ended taxes on tips and overtime and eliminated taxes on Social Security benefits for more than 35 million seniors, according to the office.

Graham said the legislation codified components of President Donald Trump’s agenda, including a border security investment, resources for law enforcement, expanded school choice access, a phase-out of Green New Deal subsidies and funding for rural hospitals, according to the office.

Twelve months later, Graham said working families are keeping more of their earnings, the border is at its “most secure point in history” with zero migrants without legal status released into the country over the past year, and crime is falling to a record low as police departments receive additional resources, according to the office.

“As we celebrate the past 250 years of American independence, we also recognize the great strides toward a more prosperous and secure future unleashed by this landmark legislation,” Graham said, according to the office.
