Greenville County Man Charged with Insurance Fraud, Forgery

SLED charged Jonathan Martinez-Garcia with forgery and false statement counts following a request from the South Carolina Department of Insurance.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Jonathan Martinez-Garcia, 26, with two counts of forgery valued at $10,000 or more and two counts of making a false statement or misrepresentation, first offense, according to SLED.

The charges were filed Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, SLED said.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance requested the SLED investigation, according to the agency.

Martinez-Garcia was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center, SLED said.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance will prosecute the case, according to SLED.
