MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Revenue arrested two people Monday in unrelated cases, charging them with failure to file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns, pay taxes, or keep records, according to the agency.
Terrance Damien Carroll, 47, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with three counts of failure to pay taxes, file a return, or keep records, according to SCDOR.
Jacqueline Brooke Duvall, 50, also of Myrtle Beach, was charged with two counts of failure to pay taxes, file a return or keep records, according to SCDOR.
SCDOR said a previous version of its news release incorrectly stated that Duvall also faced two counts of tax evasion. Those charges are pending, and the agency apologized for the error.
According to arrest warrants cited by SCDOR, Duvall did not file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns for tax years 2021 and 2022 despite having taxable income of at least $306,787 during that period. As a result, she owes at least $6,573 in unpaid state income tax, according to the warrants.
According to arrest warrants cited by SCDOR, Carroll did not file timely returns or pay South Carolina Individual Income Tax for tax years 2022, 2023 and 2024, despite earning at least $305,081 in South Carolina taxable income. He owes at least $17,458 in unpaid state income tax, according to the warrants.
If convicted, Duvall and Carroll each face a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a fine of $10,000 for each count of failing to file a return and pay taxes, according to SCDOR.
Both were taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center for a bond hearing, according to the agency.
