The S.C. Commission on Higher Education will hold a series of virtual workshops in September and October covering state scholarship and grant programs for financial aid professionals.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The S.C. Commission on Higher Education will host a series of virtual training workshops in September and October for financial aid staff, according to the commission.
The sessions are designed for both new financial aid professionals and experienced staff looking for a refresher on the state’s scholarship and grant programs, according to the commission. CHE staff with expertise in state financial aid administration will lead the trainings.
Topics will include program regulations, eligibility and renewal requirements, reporting and invoicing duties, and common compliance issues, according to the commission. Sessions will also include real-world scenarios and answers to frequently asked questions.
A Virtual Regional Scholarship Workshop will also be offered on Sept. 17 for staff who could not attend in-person regional sessions held over the summer, covering the same material presented at those events, according to the commission.
Each session will begin at 10 a.m. and run no longer than one hour. The schedule includes: Sept. 17, Virtual Regional Scholarship Workshop; Sept. 24, HOPE/LIFE Scholarship; Oct. 1, Palmetto Fellows Scholarship; Oct. 8, Lottery Tuition Assistance; Oct. 15, SC Need-Based Grant; Oct. 22, Education Enhancement Q&A; and Oct. 29, CHE Invoicing and Auditing.
Separately, the S.C. National Guard College Assistance Program will hold a Best Practices Workshop on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. That session is not part of the New Financial Aid Staff Training Series, but financial aid professionals are encouraged to attend, according to the commission.
