COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina State Library will host the Freedom Truck, a mobile museum sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, on September 1 and 2, according to the State Library.
The truck, a custom-built semi-trailer housing museum exhibits on American history, will be free to visit at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds, 1200 Rosewood Drive in Columbia, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days, according to the State Library.
Visitors will also be able to explore the SC250 Revolutionary South Carolina Discovery Center, a permanent exhibit created by the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission that highlights the state’s role in the American Revolution, according to the State Library. The center will be located next to the Freedom Truck.
The Freedom Truck event is part of a broader partnership between the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library, according to the State Library. Federal funding through the Library Services and Technology Act allows the State Library to administer grants supporting public libraries statewide, including technology upgrades, workforce development, digital literacy, early literacy initiatives, staff professional development and expanded access to educational resources, according to the State Library.
