Gov. Henry McMaster has given Charleston County School District trustee Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson formal notice of charges and a chance to respond following an Inspector General investigation.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Gov. Henry McMaster issued Executive Order 2026-19 on Wednesday, providing Charleston County School District Board of Trustees member Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson with notice of charges and an opportunity to be heard under state law, according to the Office of the Governor.
The order follows a request McMaster made on Jan. 15, 2026, asking the State Inspector General to investigate the conduct of one or more members of the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees. The Inspector General submitted a report to the governor on Aug. 27, 2026, according to the governor’s office.
Based on that report, the executive order notifies Dunmeyer-Roberson of charges related to the disclosure of executive session material, unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, and a conflict of interest, according to the governor’s office.
Dunmeyer-Roberson must inform the governor by Sept. 10, 2026, whether she plans to exercise her right to be heard, according to the order. A three-member hearing panel will then review her response along with the evidence and submit a recommendation to McMaster by Oct. 5, 2026, on whether she should be removed from the school board, according to the governor’s office.
