The S.C. Commission on Higher Education says applications for the College Assistance Program’s Fall 2026 semester will be accepted through Aug. 1.

The application window for the South Carolina National Guard College Assistance Program, known as SCNG CAP, is open through Aug. 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. for the Fall 2026 semester, according to the S.C. Commission on Higher Education.
The South Carolina National Guard will not accept applications outside of this window, according to the commission. CAP funding is awarded on a first come, first served basis, and applications are available at che.sc.gov/scngcap.
CAP recipients may receive up to a maximum of $12,000 per academic year, or a maximum of $4,000 per semester for full-time students, if enrolled in a two-year or four-year program at eligible South Carolina institutions, according to the commission.
The cumulative total of all SCNG CAP benefits is set annually through proviso by the South Carolina General Assembly. The funds are temporary and awarded for one year only. As of fiscal year 2025-26, the lifetime maximum award amount for SCNG CAP is $25,000, according to the commission.
