The S.C. State Library has published its monthly roundup of electronic state documents, highlighting the Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Incentive program.
The S.C. State Library has released its complete list of electronic South Carolina state publications for July, according to the State Library.
The publications are available through the South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository, which the State Library says gives citizens access to statistics, reports and data from state agencies on a range of topics.
This month’s release includes a presentation on the Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Incentive, a partnership between the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service that provides tax credits for rehabilitating historic buildings in South Carolina, according to the State Library.
The State Historic Preservation Office was created in 1969 as part of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History to carry out the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, which extended federal support to state and local preservation work, according to the State Library.
Since 1976, the tax incentive program has provided $1.713 billion in rehabilitation funding for completed projects in 35 South Carolina counties, according to the State Library.
Over the past five years, funded projects have included the Ellison Flour Mill in Fountain Inn, Granby Mill Village in Columbia and the Dr. Samuel Brasington House in Camden, according to the State Library. Officials said the properties were rehabilitated for modern uses while continuing to reflect the state’s history.
