COLUMBIA, S.C. — State Treasurer Curtis Loftis recognized the most recent graduates of the South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher Program, according to the Office of the State Treasurer.
Twenty-three educators from across the state were honored during the 37th Annual Economics and Financial Literacy Awards Luncheon in West Columbia for completing the bronze, silver and gold levels of the program, the office said. The multi-year program is designed to increase the number of teachers incorporating personal finance education into K-12 classrooms and includes specialized training, classroom resources and financial stipends, according to the office.
“I am delighted to celebrate our fifth cohort of Financial Literacy Master Teachers,” Loftis said, according to the office. “This specialized program empowers skilled educators by providing top-tier professional development and accessible teaching materials. Every year, we are inspired by how these graduates transform their training into impactful lessons that guide both students and colleagues toward smarter financial choices. We appreciate the dedication of these teachers who recognize that by enhancing their own expertise, they are helping others secure a better financial future.”
The program is sponsored by Future Scholar, South Carolina’s 529 College Savings Plan, in partnership with SC Economics, according to the office. Beyond classroom instruction, the program helps graduates lead professional development workshops for fellow educators to expand financial literacy teaching statewide, the office said.
The 2026 graduating class includes teachers from districts including Abbeville County, Berkeley County, Charleston, Fairfield County, Greenville County, Horry County, Kershaw County, Lancaster County, Lexington Richland 5, Orangeburg County, Richland Two, Spartanburg 6 and Union County, according to a list provided by the office.
More information is available at the SCFLMT website, scflmt.org, the office said.
