The U.S. House approved legislation from Rep. William Timmons requiring stronger training programs for federal supervisors, sending the measure to the Senate.

Based on a release from U.S. Rep. William Timmons (SC-04).

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5810, the Federal Supervisor Education Act of 2025, legislation introduced by Rep. William Timmons, R-S.C., according to Timmons’ office.

The bill directs federal agencies to strengthen existing, legally required training programs to enhance supervisory competencies and support mission execution, according to the office. By requiring agencies to improve development initiatives for future managers, the bill is intended to help government processes run more smoothly and effectively, according to the office.

“Taxpayers deserve a federal workforce that is well managed, accountable, and focused on results,” Timmons said. “H.R. 5810 restores basic expectations for leadership by requiring real training, clear standards, and accountability for federal supervisors. This bill strengthens the federal workforce and ensures government works better for the American people.”

The bill was passed as part of a package of reform measures approved by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform aimed at modernizing federal operations, increasing productivity within agencies, and eliminating barriers to public engagement with government, according to the office.

The legislation now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration, according to Timmons’ office.
