South Carolina Market Bulletin Now Free to Read Online

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture has removed the subscription requirement for online access to its long-running Market Bulletin publication.

Based on a release from S.C. Dept. of Agriculture.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Market Bulletin is now available online without a subscription, according to the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

The change took effect in February 2026. The Market Bulletin has been published continuously since 1913, first as a section of The State newspaper and later as a standalone publication, according to the department.

The publication includes agriculture-related classified ads, articles, event listings, news releases and the Commissioner’s Corner, a column written by the South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture, according to the department.

The department said opening online access to a wider readership will support the Market Bulletin’s continued viability and relevance. Print subscriptions will continue to be available by mail for $15 a year, according to the department.

The department cited two reasons for the change. Expanding access is intended to draw a larger pool of potential classified advertisers so farmers can find items and services they need, according to the department. The department also said open access is easier for readers and frees up staff time previously spent on technical support for subscribers.

Classified ads in the Market Bulletin are free to place but must be related to agriculture and comply with the department’s advertising policies, according to the department.

The latest issue, advertising policies and classified ad submissions are available at agriculture.sc.gov/market-bulletin, according to the department.
