The S.C. Office of Inspector General pointed to a new fraud risk management resource from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Based on a release from S.C. Office of Inspector General.
The S.C. Office of Inspector General shared information on the Anti-Fraud Blueprint, a resource from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, according to the office.
The Blueprint follows the Anti-Fraud Playbook, which the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners released in 2020 in partnership with Grant Thornton, according to the S.C. Office of Inspector General. That Playbook drew on the first edition of the Fraud Risk Management Guide, issued in 2016 by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission, the office said.
A second edition of the Fraud Risk Management Guide was published in 2023 by the same two organizations, updating the earlier guide and aligning it more closely with the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission’s Internal Control Framework, according to the S.C. Office of Inspector General.
The office said the rise of widely available artificial intelligence tools has intensified the speed and complexity of fraudulent activity while also giving organizations new capabilities to detect and prevent it.
The new Blueprint is designed to align with the 2023 guide and is intended to help organizations build, mature or enhance their fraud risk management programs, according to the S.C. Office of Inspector General. It also updates the guidance from the 2020 Playbook to reflect the changing fraud risk landscape, the office said.
